Oh how I love the butterfly effect. When my free time is spent saying, "sure, let's do this" until bedtime calls my name, it is guaranteed to be fun. Just pure fun! This craving is one I would not have sought to feed even a couple of years ago; thank goodness spontaneity is something exciting and comforting now. All of the most genuine friendships, most meaningful experiences, came from allowing me to step out of my "comfort zone" (which was just intimidation of what is new) to find my TRUE comfort zone.
It is clear why this is so vital to finding those good places in your life, when you are doing something new and uncomfortable according to your own will or desire to just explore, to see what you can draw from the new and uncertain, you're going in with the mindset of, "I want to find meaning," and a heart of curiosity and interest- what a perfect toolkit for meeting people and showing up as you!
So, if things are sitting too still, if you need to feel a bit more seen, if you think there's a compartment of your heart and your energy that have a home not yet found - it is almost certainly out there. It is just a matter of looking in all the wrong and right places. The wrong places matter so much, because how do you know what people or pursuits to avoid if you have no idea how they actually act? And, when you find the right places, it is so intensely rewarding. People you can stumble into any day of the week and have zero doubt that the are willing to hear what is really on your mind, to give what you may need... the simplicity and "mundaneness" that a positive, healthy friendship permits space for is such pure love. Long story short, jumping from place to place with some buddies yesterday reminded me of the importance of doing exactly that - letting the wheels roll to wherever, and making the most of it. Because if you don't roll around.................................................... where will you go?!?!!!??!!?!?!?!?!???!!
